WHERE DID YOU GO?
Port Douglas, staying at the Mantra Portsea then Thala Beach Lodge (15mins south of Port Douglas)
2- WHO WITH AND HOW LONG FOR?
Travelled with my husband and 1.5 year old son. We just did a week with 5 nights close to town and 2 nights at Thala Beach Lodge which is on its own private headland just south of Port Douglas.
3- WHO DID YOU FLY WITH AND HOW WERE THEY?
Qantas in Business Class, I can’t fault them, the staff were amazing especially with my little one.
The lounges are great with designated kids areas which is great for all involved.
We came via Brisbane on the way home and checked out the new lounge and the new business Lounge, very impressive.
4- WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT?
Driving up to Cape Tribulation, beautiful part of the world, unspoilt beaches with no one on them ( maybe because of the recent croc sightings….. ) and the rain forest is pristine. I love seeing tourists from all over the world enjoying our backyard.
Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is also highly recommended. It is a very well put together attraction with a great variety of animals and of course Crocs up close!
5 – WHAT WAS THE LOWLIGHT?
Coming home to the cold!
6 – BEST THING YOU ATE?
Thala Beach Lodge has a beautiful restaurant called the Osprey. While its not that cheap the food was modern, different and very tasty.
7 – WHERE WOULD YOU GO BACK TO?
Defiantly both places, a week for some sun and fun is just perfect at this time of year
8 – TRAVELLING TIP POST HOLIDAY?
No harm in pre booking tours for this part of the country, in its peak it’s a busy place! Also booking restaurants in advance is probably recommended.
Having a car was great too, even though we didn’t use it everyday it was a brilliant way to see the Daintree, Cape Trib & Captain Cook Hwy.
